No rain this morning for a change so we all turned out for some fresh air and exercise.
There has been a delivery of wood chip so all the paths between the raised beds were topped up. The rotten wood and old stems have piled up so time for another outing of the brazier and good to stand beside it and warm up from time to time.
All the rain has compacted the soil round the garlic planted last week so they were put back into the soil and firmed down.
The autumn raspberries are normally cut down to ground level in late winter but on the allotment the yellow ones are full on to the west winds and suffering from wind rock which is not good for the roots. The stems were cut down to stop this happening and the holes filled up and firmed off. The red variety is in a more sheltered position so these were left for the moment.
Still working on the pruning of the windbreak trees and this week the hazels were pruned to allow the straight stems more room to develop over the next season.
Next week will be the last before our break over Christmas and New Year meeting up again in middle/late January weather permitting.
Jobs for next week and last of 2015
