George’s first 2016 update on his spring bulbs

It is an early year so far and George already has Snowdrops and Iris in full flower.

and so a decision has been taken to lift the most advanced ones and bring them into the cold glasshouse.

First pots removed from the plunge

Sealing Wax, Benvoy and Avalanche seem to be the most advanced.

They will be left to dry out a little before he start watering in earnest. It is best to dry pots out slightly so that you can then control the growth by varying the amount of water given.

Last year George lifted all his bulbs on 25th January and none were as far forward as these

As George says: “Every season is different and a challenge”.
