Crocus appearing

..but not before time. The colder weather  recently has slowed many plants up and it is   no longer an unusually early flowering season. The first of the large Dutch crocus to appear is  usually the yellow. Often  planted in mixed colours it is worth  trying them as single blocks. There are other early crocus to provide  variety such as the many C. chry santhus cultivars as well as forms  of C. sieberi. The one  usually sold  as Tricolor  is easy to grow and striking  with its three tiers of colour.
