George tells you how…

The mild weather and the little blinks of sunshine have started to green up the bulbs recently removed from the plunge.

Daffodil beginning to green up

The Hyacinths are greening up well and already the leaves are starting to turn out like little ears at the top of the flower shoots.

One of the pots of Carnegie went under the knife today to remove the extra flower shoots. It remains to be seen whether or not the remaining flower buds will develop into prize winners.

Time will tell!

  1. Ah – so we should cut off the weakest flower shoots, if there are extra, and keep the strongest three? Should that be done with a sterilised knife, or just secateurs? Thanks George!
